Michael Burry closed his fund and kicked out investors so he could put on a massive short without prying eyes. He thinks a major correction is coming due to 1) 70 percent passive, 2) mandatory boomer withdrawals, and 3) the trigger will be a pop in AI.

His Palantir options are already well within the money.

I think he might be uh wrong. If 70% of the market is passive why would they sell unless boomers have a mass liquidity crisis? Boomers are never selling and they're never dying. They own their homes outright and it's tax disadvantageous to sell. They're living off social security and annuities and slowing draw down of the principle but mostly still trying to grow it big. I can't see a big change coming. Why would withdrawals be mandatory? Seems far fetched.

AI pop also seems like a pipe dream. Shit is just beginning. We're still in the early stages of the gold rush. Worst case you are way too early to buy. But they keep going up and up. No one can yet explain why AI is going to hit a wall. I think it will just reinvent itself.

No. He has done very well, including being early on GameStop and making like $100 million. If he had hold’d he’d have made half a billion. Succeeded on farmland and value. Mistimed Tesla and has been bearish since Pandemic, but has only been using options to place outsized bets (low capital looking for moonshots that haven’t paid off).

on his album kamikaze from 2018 he used a bon iver sample (or bon iver was on the hook) on a song where he called tyler the creator a faggot. bon iver said publicly he didn't care for the use of that word and eminem dissed him in a song on his next album.

LMK any additional info you need about eminem

401k withdrawals are mandatory when you’re 70+.

I don’t get why passive is a problem tbh. But it does mean tons of people Buying High bc the index is market cap weighted though. So if the Mag 7 crash it’s like a shitload of money Disappearing.

I think the concentration thing ties back to automatic and mandatory rebalancing that results in various funds simultaneously having to dump big winners because they have thrown the fund investment mix out of whack

I've heard about this for a long time but haven't seen it play out in any important way despite the various bubbles and all the concentration in tech and growth
