38 year old friend not having dating app success

Hasn’t done well on apps but think he only uses hinge What should he do? Different app? Guy is desperate to find the one but I’m worried he’s destined for male shrewdom I told him to stop responding to “prompts” and just be irreverent and funny and just get the date to irl asap, and also get better photos. His main photo didn’t even show his fave directly like how can you do it this bad. Guy needs some pics of him in a suit or rock climbing instead of shlubbing around in a tshirt or using 10 year old photos But I’ve been out of the dating game for like 7 years so idk what it’s like out there now. Any tips?
