Going to Jeju Island in S. Korea this summer

I don't want to just be stuck sitting around my inlaws place after spending $10K to ship everybody over there, so we are also going to Jeju-do for a few days. I have never been. What should I expect? Koreans always sort of make fun of it, like, "Yeah, Jejo-do for a honeymoon! Are you poor?" and things like that. They make fun of it on Squid Games even. Looks nice though.
