So scum might not have been aware of what was available. Turok was a game I personally never played I think I was too much of a Loser for that. I played Mario 64, Zelda, Smash Brothers, Donkey Kong 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Wave Racer 64, Banjo Kazooie, Starwars Shadows of the Empire, Starwars Episode 1 racer. Granted that’s only the last third or so of Gen X, but mostly what explains the Gen X aversion to Nintendo consoles after the mid 90s is getting old but not having kids of their own and being the entire market for PC gaming for the 95-05 period. An older Gen X gamer in this period was far more likely to want to spend more on upgrades for his PC than buy an N64. But younger Gen X loved the N64 and loved Golden Eye more than any other game except the top 5 or so titles on the OG NES. And I think we were the only people that fell for it based on Game Cube sales figures.

Many GIs brought them back from Viet Nam and GenXers became intrigued by them.
