Basically no one wants to work full time nights so they need to get creative. I.e. Even if it's 1/2 salary I would still get 30k 401k from employer, which isn't cut. Plus any extra salary is taxed at 40%. Plus I can still work as many easy shifts 5-9pm same hourly rate. For my 1099 work I can also write off about 80k in expenses but if I work more I cannot write off more so pay more tax or make less per hour. Finally the only reason I still work full time is because i have very little equity. If I had even 5mil in stocks, any further work would cause much smaller % in actual income.
