I’ve been making threads on Reddit/xo for a while, often with no replies, where I ask whether Gen X was the first gen to do worse than their parents financially. Ime, silent genners all did pretty well. These are the people who held those mythical 50s/60s jobs that paid Immensely. Meanwhile many in the “greatest gen” started out during the depression and would’ve been Poor af for years and years just by virtue of their Gen and the time in which they lived. Silent genners also predated 401ks and since the average person is dumb as hell, 401k balances are Ruinous generally compared to a silent genner’s pension, ceteris paribus. Anyway I really think that Gen X did worse than their parents whether in terms of income, assets, or Lifespan
