Jake walked in on his first day, handed HR a list of religious exemptions, and said, “Just so you know, friend.” He can’t work Sundays (Sabbath), refuses to handle pork or alcohol, and today he informed us he won’t touch anything with artificial dyes.
This morning, while I was knee-deep in Sunday shoppers demanding refunds on “expired” eggs, Jake sat in the breakroom, reading scripture on his iPad. When I asked if he could at least handle produce, he sighed deeply and said, “Legally, I must honor my faith.”
Spent eight hours explaining to BBWs that no, “organic” doesn’t mean the chicken breast was massaged daily.
Restocked his station, wiped sweat from my brow, and whispered, “Yes, friend. This is fine.”
