I've read some of Aickman's stories. They're a little too low-key for me, but I like the idea of horror that's not in your face. The Wine-dark Sea and the one about the dollhouse were good.

The first time I tried Aickman I was expecting straight-forward ghost/horror stories, and I was perplexed. But his weird style of writing grows on you, if you're in the right mood. I think "The Cicerones" is a good middle-ground between his odd, oblique style and a more "traditional" mode of British horror.
