This essay revisits the structure of modern elite power through the lens of cybernetics. Beginning with the role of financial standards and institutional architecture, it examines how control over the categories through which a system measures reality can produce influence without direct command. But the attempt to approach comprehensive regulation contains a paradox of its own: a system that seeks to model and control an increasingly complex reality may also generate forms of unpredictability that exceed its models. The essay therefore moves from the architecture of contemporary power toward the limits imposed upon any attempt at total regulation.

tldr:
Elite power expands by controlling the standards through which institutions understand reality, so the system produces desired outcomes without requiring direct orders at every level. AI increases how much behavior can be observed and predicted, while programmable money increases how precisely behavior can be constrained. Freedom contracts as fewer activities remain beyond those capabilities, moving elite power toward permanent protection from overthrow.
The religious agenda supplies a shared vision that coordinates this pursuit of power. It connects the technological transformation to a messianic future centered on Israel. Its role is to explain what holds the elites together as they build the control apparatus.
The central tension is that comprehensive control remains beyond any finite system’s capacity. People help sustain authority by handing unresolved conflicts to institutions, but those institutions cannot eliminate everything their models exclude. Attempts to force reality into those models generate further disturbances, and the response is to intensify control. The drive to secure permanent rule therefore increases the pressure behind disruptions the system cannot absorb.

• False accusations against Sabina Spielrein: In March and June 1909, Jung told Freud that Spielrein had attempted to seduce him and spread scandalous rumors after he refused to give her a child. On 21 June, he withdrew the rumor accusation, admitted his own involvement, and called his misleading representation of their relationship to her mother “a piece of knavery.”
• Making professional restraint conditional on payment: Jung told Spielrein’s mother that he had relaxed his medical role because he had never charged a fee, then proposed ten francs per consultation if she wanted him to adhere strictly to that role. This documents manipulative management of professional boundaries within an intimate relationship with a former patient.
• Admitted deliberate deception during dream analysis: In Memories, Dreams, Reflections, Jung admitted giving Freud false associations to the skulls in his house dream to observe Freud’s response to material fitting Freud’s theory. His statement, “And so I told him a lie,” directly establishes intentional deception, although the account was recorded decades afterward.
• Inconsistent chronology in his doctoral research: Jung’s 1902 dissertation dated séances with Helene Preiswerk to 1899 and 1900 while describing her as fifteen and a half, although she was born in 1881; his later account placed their commencement in 1896. Shamdasani documents earlier séance records, establishing inaccurate presentation of the research chronology, with deliberate falsification remaining an inference.
• False publication chronology supporting the collective unconscious: Jung argued that a patient’s solar phallus experience around 1906 could not derive from an ancient text supposedly published in 1910, but the relevant passage had already appeared in Dieterich’s 1903 edition. This undermines his stated exclusion of ordinary transmission, although the discrepancy alone does not establish intentional deception.
• Contradicting previously known patient history: Jung later claimed that the solar phallus patient had never travelled, despite describing his employment in London and gunshot injury in a 1907 letter to Freud. Huggins identifies the patient as Emil Schwyzer and documents Jung’s subsequent contradiction and omission, supporting selective presentation while leaving memory failure unresolved.
• An overstated mythological parallel: Huggins’s archival study argues that the ancient passage Jung compared with Schwyzer’s experience describes a musical instrument rather than a phallus, undermining the claimed correspondence. Huggins attributes the misunderstanding partly to Jung’s translation resources and rejects the allegation that Jung stole Honegger’s discovery, making defective proof the stronger supported accusation.
• Inflated clinical confirmation concerning Frank Miller: Jung claimed that Miller’s subsequent schizophrenia confirmed his interpretation of her published fantasies, but records recovered by Shamdasani documented a different diagnosis, clear consciousness, and no hallucinations or delusions during her brief hospitalization. Jung also admitted projecting his own fantasy material into hers, supporting criticism of his claimed diagnostic confirmation without establishing that the confirming psychiatrist’s communication was fabricated.
• Retaining paranormal conclusions despite acknowledged statistical defects: In Synchronicity, Jung disclosed probability errors and omitted qualifications that exaggerated results favoring astrology, while acknowledging that larger samples weakened the apparent effect. He nevertheless incorporated the experimental difficulties into his explanation of synchronicity, supporting methodological criticism while his disclosure limits an allegation of concealed fabrication.
• Changing his account of an experiment’s purpose: Michael Fordham recalled that Jung originally expected statistically significant astrology results to prove synchronicity, whereas Jung later insisted the experiment had never been intended to prove either. Jung also stated that he had wanted to suppress the experimental account in the English edition, supporting scrutiny of retrospective goal changing, with the earlier intention partly dependent on Fordham’s recollection.
• Insufficient acknowledgment of Herbert Silberer: Gyimesi documents substantial parallels between Silberer’s work and Jung’s theories, alongside Jung’s access to Silberer’s publications and their correspondence. Jung nevertheless claimed independent development and later said he had forgotten Silberer’s principal work, supporting an allegation of inadequate credit while intentional plagiarism remains disputed.

some or all of this might be true, i don't know. i have "the aryan jung" book to read; i'm not allergic to the material, or feel the need to "defend my master" or whatever. regardless of any of this, the individuation process, how the shadow works, the nature of the Self, the God-image containing evil, etc., are all irrespective of the man himself, and concepts that i personally find to be true and very valuable
also, i don't expect goodness from people much anymore; i expect contradiction and complexity, because we are all torn between the opposites. jung isn't immune to that
