What's up with fancy country clubs that waive initiation fee for under 30 guys?

It's the postwar 1950s suburban clubs and the wannabe new CCs of the 1990s catering to the upper middle management that are dying out and desperate for members. It reflects the economic story of the US in the last 20 years, most wealth accrued to the top 1%, not 10% but 1%, and rising cost of living for the rest of the top 10% due to high housing and education costs means less disposable income for things like clubs compared to their parents' generation. Also lifestyle changes, your typical 10%er outside the top 1% consists of two working parents with busy careers, not the high earning dad with a housewife at home raising the kids and having lunch at the club with her friends that is much more common once you hit the 1%.
