The idea of the Club World Cup is fine if the point is just to gauge how much better UEFA is than the other confederations, and for that you just need a six-team tournament. Sending multiple teams from each confederation and trying to create chaos with a group stage and knockout stage, and offering big prize money to the winner, is trying to create a spectacle out of nothing, trying to embarrass the big UEFA clubs into legitimizing lesser clubs by taking the Club World Cup seriously and forcing them to waste resources protecting their honor, resources that would be better spent in more interesting domestic and Champions League play.
