The procurement category is specifically maintenance/repair/rebuild of engines, turbines and components. NASA says Atec possesses unique knowledge necessary for the requirement. �

Spring 2026: NASA 844 disappears from its longtime outdoor display and reportedly goes into a hangar for inspection. Aviation Week says commercial satellite imagery establishes that it had been removed months before Isaacman's announcement. �

Those are two real contracts right after the 844 was pulled for inspection. The 844 was the last SR-71 and was flight capable until 2002 when it was put in storage, not because the airframe was bad but because of a fuel line. The second contract is with P&W for OEM engine work, they designed the engine.

It's probably exploratory but if NASA is looking to build a mach3 test aircraft why not check on the one you already own?
