The idea that you would want to retire from this situation is at best incomprehensible to her and, at worst, implies some sort of deeply buried fundamental moral flaw - most likely that you are a pornography addict. |

I’m getting ready to do this because I can’t stand my live in girlfriend sometimes and she’s insufferable. I WFH a lot and it’s been awful this last year or so. Before that she would still spend 3-4 days a week at her house so I could bear it.
I want to get a cheap old office building with an apartment on top of it or a couple commercial units so it can pay for itself and then start going in three days a week. Set up an office in the space that’s tasteful. She has no idea what my job is so it’s believable, and I might actually get something more productive done.
I didn’t believe it at first but I think a lot of advancements are made by men who simply want to avoid their wives.
It’s truly insane how women crush your dreams for their parasitic vanity. |

I have enough hobbies and other intellectual pursuits where I would benefit from a setup like this; as well as the freedom to be a piece of shit when I want to.
I come from a long line of men that had mistresses or were absent fathers to various degrees - but were also paradoxically family men. I need an heir and my line to continue - but I also need some damned peace for myself. I love my girlfriend but her having so much access to me is detrimental. I don’t want to go back into the dating pool for some wretched blown out piece of shit shrew or some bimbo. Social media and popular culture has caused a cognitive homogenization of the female gender - they’re all the same.
Men frequently traveled or had male-only spaces to congregate at on a regular basis. These spaces have turned into walking memory care institutions due to member age, have shut down, been infiltrated by women, fagged out or are otherwise ineffective at this point.
The unfortunate truth is that I need a damned lair or cave from which to conduct my affairs in the sweet embrace of self imposed solitude. To read, write, worship God - away from any nonsense or idiocy for a solid 6 to 8 hours a day. Is that too much to ask? Plus I have so many dangerous or highly valuable things like guns/knives/machinery that i need to store them away from my home and any women or children.
