how much does your accountant charge?

Date: July 31st, 2024 1:13 PM Author: Cerebral candlestick maker when i made partner in biglol in 2018, i became a k-1 employee so i hired an accountant. they typically charged me like 1300-1500 a year. last year, i switched firms and became a w-2 employee. the 2023 return was my wife's w-2 and my w-2, and maybe 7-8 vanguard statements that probably reflected some dividend payments bc i don't actively trade shit. apart from that, there was our mortgage interest, some childcare shit and that type of normal stuff.
i got a bill for $1600. i asked wtf that was about when i could have done this on turbotax, and they replied that they're giving me a $450 credit. so they think that over $1k is a fair price for this.
am i fuckin nuts or is this way off? i feel like this should have cost like $300, maybe $500. |

you'd be SHOCKED at the number of mistakes done by our "competent" B4 CPAs (that charge us hundreds of thousands). Literally our investors name spelt wrong--"Robert" spelt as "Rodert". And I literally had to fix all of them over the span of two weeks. |
