There are Black pressure groups who have lawyers trained on how to do this. Blackout is a famous one. It was less obvious a decade ago, but you now effectively have to have blacks. There is a supply of them kept on hand to get on your show. This is how black performers get work. It's a survival tactic, meh.
I loved how she just "got it over with" and dated the guy for like half an episode then it was business as usual. Lena admitted she doesn't understand blacks and couldn't figure out how to incorporate them into the story. Blackout etc. didn't care, she just needed to get ritually defiled.
If you want a creative career, leave the US. It is soon going to be illegal to air your work in the US over broadcast if it doesn't have blacks. Otherwise, you need to bow to the new elite and make black content. |

Prior to this, Dexter only went after people the justice system failed to convict, discover or let off too easy. Premise was that he picked up where the justice system failed. For the entire Trinity arc, he's actively thwarting the investigation and for most of the season all his problems would be solved if he just let the cops arrest Trinity. This is really poorly justified and unfortunately later seasons were even worse about this. Season 4 introduced the poison that made the later seasons so bad. |

i was on the lost forums in shit reading about all the unresolved mysteries. i remember about midway during the final season it became apparent that it would be impossible to resolve everything, and that the showerrunners had no idea what they were doing from the get go. they were just creating mysteries for the sake of it. which is super fucking easy. it's really easy to *create* a mysterious thing. the difficulty comes in *resolving* it in a way that is unexpected but not unbelievable. |
