I know it's not very common but I've been practicing US law as a digital nomad for about three years now living mostly in Asia and Latin America. Happy to take questions.
Long story short, I practiced for a few years at a big firm then started my own solo shop. A year into working solo I realized it was so expensive to live in a top tier US city, I could instead live abroad and work remotely without anyone noticing.
Everything I do is through the internet. I have multiple internet US phone numbers with Google Voice, Sonetel and Plivo (cost: free to $1.99 a month). I use a $2 a month service to receive faxes and send them at .10 cents a page via eFax. I have multiple virtual offices that cost $20-30 a month plus scans. Average month is $50-75 each including scans depending on how busy I am. I never meet with clients in person. 98% of them have no problem with this. None of them know I am not in the country. As long as I reply to emails and calls in a timely manner they don't care.
I advertise online, mostly on Adwords. I also use a call answering service that runs around .90 cents per call, they take brief messages for me and I can call back. When I work remotely in Asia this is helpful as the time difference kills but in Latin America I'd usually just let it ring direct to my cell.
I use a internet mailing service to send mail from a US address. It basically runs around double the charge of postage so a basic 2 page letter that is around .49 cents postage will cost around .90 or so to mail including their service fee. It's been a pretty good service and even if I lived in the US I would use this as it's cheaper than hiring an assistant.
I do litigation and do have to appear in court or meditations sometimes. However, for court hearings I almost always can appear by telephone. Just the other night I did one where I was in Asia and the hearing was in the US. It's easy to appear by phone usually and the Judge has no idea whether you are in Chicago or Baghdad.
I use to do depositions myself and would fly back to the US but now I hire people to do them. This can range anywhere from $250 to $600 per deposition, which is not horrible since I make around 11-12k per case and cases usually have no more than one deposition (most don't even have any).
The one thing I must come back to the US for is mediations but I am able to schedule them 1-2 months in advance so I can try to bunch them together. Usually a set of cases takes me 15 months start to finish. The first 6-7 months I am just recruiting so I don't have to go back to the US at all. About the last 8 months I need to go back to the US every 4-8 weeks.
Overall my set up has worked out amazingly. I currently live in a nice place in Asia for a fraction of the cost and my overall life is significantly better than in the US. I don't like flying back to the US but it's maybe 5 times a year so it's okay. I save a great deal of money living in Asia so even with my travel costs it still works out. I've done this now for over three years. My first year, or rather first round of cases, I pulled around a 115k profit, my second round around 170k and now in my current round I am on pace for around 425k.
Happy to take any questions as I realize not many lawyers do this. Many are scared but most just don't know it's possible with today's technology to do this.

How do adwords work out?
I was thinking of doing this with eastern europe. I have not met with a client yet in my first year a solo practice.

That is an awesome return.
You don't use some search engine optimization company?
With hearings, do you just face tank the hours?

ljl yea but the guy i used had like 35y experience in lit and was from the chosen ppl, now some goy from pepperdine law
anyway most he ever asked for was like 300 i think, he was already retired and rich so just doing it to occupy his time, it was some AZN that asked for 600 but i never needed him for anything in socal
anyway, even 600 is really cheap, this was pre covid so factor in commute time and some prep
