I'm a millennial but I do it because my parents mentioned it when I was a kid and I thought it looked better. plus, it's reminiscent of the typewriter days – retro!
I also always capitalized "internet" and continued to do so for at least a year after the standard changed. |

It’s a little more defensible in briefs or legal writing because citations already breakup reading flow and it may help filter out that noise, but makes no sense at all in normal writing, and arguably makes contract drafting shittier because two spaces after headings become less noticeable. One space between words. Two spaces between sentences. A line break between paragraphs. A page break between chapters/sections. Just makes logical sense. |
