1. golf is 180. being outside and around mostly chill bros is great. but its not as easy as you might think. after playing and practicing a lot, i fucked up my hips and back and im fairly young and decently athletic. i ended up giving up the sport because the pain was simply not worth it. if you never played bat and ball sports growing up, make sure not to get too invested in golf because you might be fucking terrible and never get the hang of it. start slow and see if you have any natural ability. practice once a week, play once a week. you dont need to drive the ball 300 yards, but if you can be consistent to 150-200, youre good enough and can make up points by becoming a good chip and puttmo
2. costco is extremely credited for golf shit. dont fall into the trap of buying a ton of expensive equipment. buy the callaway costco golf set and use that for your first 6 months, kirkland signature golf balls as well. if youre shit and decide to give up golf you can just return the clubs. you dont need shoes or fancy gloves or ball trackers yet. covid saw a huge influx of prole goy golfers who get obsessed with the gear that has no real utility. keep things simple especially as you are a beginner.

The price would have been a relative wash for what I was looking for (piecing together a "quality" set on eBay vs just buying from Callaway Preowned), especially since i don't have a lot of experience in knowing exactly what i should be looking for. The used Callaway ended up beonh the easiest option to start with, and I can always replace bits and pieces as time goes on and I learn a bit more. |

-Get a cheap TaylorMade burner driver
-cheap used ping or similar putter
-drive for show putt for dough is real
-try to get to the green in whatever par is so if par 4 try to make it to green in 4 strokes
- from there pictureba giant hula ring around hole and see if you can always 2 stroke putt on the green if you can and then you will be able to avg a legit bogie to double bogie to start and go from there shaving a stroke with improving your driver, putts and short chip game
- when starting just stick to 7 irons and up maybe even 8 and up don't worry about lower irons or even drivers

also, my CLUBS arrived today. they're all brand new and plastic wrapped (putter, 5H, 3W, 6i-9i, PW, SW) except for the driver, which is used but clearly in pretty good shape. |

focus more on tempo and repeatability than trying to get max distance. if you swing the right way and have a good shoulder turn you'll hit it very far even if it feels like you're swinging light.
and the short game and putting is 80% of being a good golfer. hitting quality shots from 100 yards and in and avoiding 3 putts is how you break 80 |
