Fair. I was rating poasters as 120 aspects of Star Trek Voyager. The news was rated as an aspect of Star Trek Voyager that was more like 160. The *idea* of being able to communicate with the AQ was okay, I guess, but mostly meaningless because life on Voyager wasn't much different than life on the 1701-D. The tie-in to Robinson was more about communicating.

I rate you as the "riddle" which bookends the episode "Riddles," which acts as a thematic sequel to Tuvix, despite not referencing the events therein.

Riddle:

"A lone ensign finds himself stranded on a class L planetoid with no rations. His only possession: a calendar. When Starfleet finds him twelve months later, he's in perfect health. Why didn't he starve to death?"

Neelix's answer at the start of the episode:

"He ate dates from the calendar."

Tuvok's answer at the end:

"Maybe he ate the sundaes from the calendar."

The illogic of a riddle that relies on wordplay between two characters who presumably do not know how to speak English is, of course, not addressed.

Than you are more fortunate than I. Tuvok gets zapped by an alien gun and regresses to a child-like state who, among other things, takes an interest in helping Neelix in the kitchen. Neelix gets to be his babysitter/dad. The reset button is, of course, hit by the end of the episode but not before gimped Tuvok helps out by drawing a frequency he remembers in frosting on a cake. Not flame.

I rate you as the premise of the episode "The 37's," in which the crew finds Amelia Earhart (and other frozen humans) in the delta quadrant. Why they chose to play that card then not do anything interest with the character is, as always, anybody's guess.

In it, Harry Kim is tricked by aliens into thinking he's actually one of them and he gets to have three hot alien wives, notwithstanding INTERGALACTIC NOWAG. The episode serves no purpose other than UPN's attempt to do softcore porn on a broadcast network.

I rate you as "11:59," the episode which attempted to cash in on interest in Y2K, in which we find out Janeway's ancestor was involved with an incredibly boring aspect of 12/31/2000 in which some guy is the last holdout in some pre-Kelo land development scheme. There's also a subplot about how Janeway thought her ancestor was involved in exploring Mars but two minutes of research proves this to be false. Amazingly, they couldn't even be bothered to air it in December and the episode aired in May 1999.

I rate you as the steady decline of the Borg as a villain over the years, probably reaching its absolute peak when Janeway, Tuvok, and Torres allowed themselves to get assimilated, with the intent of becoming "unassimilated" later, and successfully did so with no long-term consequences.

I rate myself as eventually, the crew discover the war being waged between Chaotica and the fifth dimension and must defeat him by playing out their roles as the fictional Captain Proton (played by Tom Paris), his sidekick Buster Kincaid (Harry Kim), the President of Earth (the ship's holographic Doctor, who is himself a photonic being), and Arachnia, Queen of the Spider People. Captain Janeway allows Paris to convince her to take on the latter role.

I rate you as the most improbable aspect of that episode, in that Janeway mentions she's a "size four" dress, which implicitly means that the modern illogical and arbitrary way that women's clothing is sized survives into the 24th century. I presume women will wrest control of fashion away from gay men by then.

I rate this question as the plot of "Latent Image," in which it's revealed the Doctor was forced to make a choice between saving Harry Kim and a kyootee ensign of the week. His normal triage subroutine failed because they had an equal chance of survival, so he randomly picked Kim and the aftermath made him go nuts so the crew deleted his memory of it.

Answer: Idk, it's amazing the stupid shit that sticks with you. I did remember Janeway referencing a dress size, but I had to google to find out which one. The episode aired when I was 17. My girlfriend at the time had mentioned a few times how much she hated dress sizes and the general randomness of how woman's clothing is sized. So it stuck out as anachronistic and a bit implausible that such a stupid system would survive four centuries into the future.

tbf, the system is stupid because it's "vanity sizing", and even 26th c. women will be vain.

I rate that mental image as Q flashing into Janeway's quarters and catching her in her nightgown. Not family friendly viewing.

I rate you as Chakotay's alleged "Native American spirituality," including the revelation that, if it happened today, would send SJW's into overdrive: Chakotay's "Native American" gods were in fact delta quadrant aliens

Shocked you haven't mentioned the time they found an old truck floating in space that starts when they bring aboard and turn the key OR the one with the sentient species that turns out to be evolved DINOSAURS that left Earth eons ago!

I rate you as the impatient alien from "Coda" who tried to trick Janeway into thinking she was dead so she would feed his soul matrix or whatever.

(Translation: I was getting to those. Note that "The 37's" was referenced above which also has the notorious pickup truck scene in addition to Amelia Earhart. Lots of shit ideas in one episode.)

I rate you as the setting of "Fair Haven," in which the crew gets overly attached to a holographic Irish village and, among other absurd aspects, (a) Janeway has sex with a hologram, (b) The Doctor pretends to be a priest but never once mentions 'God' or 'Jesus' in his sermons, (c) Paris follows around Kim and turns his holographic date into a cow, and (d) the crew risks the entire ship rather than delete the holodeck program when it inevitably malfunctions.

Ty for a great thread. I watched all of Voyager alone and barely ever see any references to it (thank god), so I am glad to have a way to finally process and come to peace with that show

YW brother. I rate you as the third distinct incredibly shitty aspect of "The 37's"-- at the end of the episode, Janeway offers anybody on her crew the chance to settle down on a chill planet with plenty of CGWBT's instead of continue on in the futile quest to return to the Alpha Quadrant. Literally nobody takes her up on it, despite her fears that enough will say yes that the ship won't be able to continue operating. This is played as heartwarming, but is instead just really fucking stupid.

I rate you as the crew's chronic search for "deuterium," which is played as rare/hard to acquire but is (i) a real thing, (ii) that's an isotope of hydrogen and (iii) incredibly abundant. For some reason, they didn't feel like saying "dilithium," which is accepted treknobabble.

I rate you as the time Tom Paris took an experimental shuttle, went warp 10, had adverse effects, then abducted the captain, stole that shuttle, went warp 10 with her, then they turned into salamanders, up to and including mating with each other and creating salamander babies. Don't worry, though, the crew finds them and changes them back into humans. The salamendar babies get abandoned though.

Not. Flame. YES YOU CAN SKIP VOYAGER. There are 3-6 good episodes, but there is no reason for anybody to watch the whole series through.

I rate you as the original "Janeway" who was going to be called Nicole Janeway. But she quit b/c she couldn't handle the fast-pace scheduling of television vs. movie.

That is pretty shit, but it's not quite fair to compare her to the completed scenes with Mulgrew-- they got Mulgrew's best take and reshot a bunch of scenes in Caretaker at ludicrous expense. I'd say Kate Mulgrew generally did the best possible job as anybody could with the shit/inconsistent material she was given. It's a shame she's the poster girl for "JFC white women." Hard to believe she's the sea monster who appears in Orange is the New Black.

Who considers her "JFC white women"?

IF anything, Mulgrew brought credibility to the show. No matter how shitty/inconsistent the show got, Mulgrew carried that show on her back like a wounded Soldier in Afghanistan.

I rate you as the moment in which the Doctor became a hit singer on a planet that, prior to encountering Voyager, had never encountered a culture with 'music' and Seven misinterpreted the crush of fan mail as an attack and declared red alert.
