"DC Metro considered my past work experience and fast tracked me so that I can retire in 5 years on a $300K per year annual pension," Brazile told reporters.

"After retirement I will go back and work for the Metro as a private contractor at twice my previous salary."

"WMATA General Manager Paul Wiedefeld said the train operated by Ms. Brazille somehow derailed after coming to a complete stop at Metro Center. 'This shouldn't be possible,' a befuddled Mr. Wiedefeld told reporters. 'A train shouldn't be able to derail once it has stopped moving.'"

"'It's odd that the train derailed despite Ms. Brazile being given the complete system map and operation instructions in advance', Wiedefeld continued.

"Brazile has been placed on full paid administrative leave pending an independent investigation by the WMATA Civil Rights Compliance Commission. The length of leave also qualifies her for double overtime as well as a new 'leave stipend' of an additional one-and-a-half overtime rate, a provision passed in 2010 after negotiations with the United WMATA Train Operators Brotherhood Local 238, of which Brazile is a member, shop steward, president, and departmental liaison.
