I just got a Hellcat. It replaced my Glock 43X that went to my brother-in-law and my G17 that went to my father-in-law. Given how tight inventories are across the gun industry, if you can find one of these you should buy it immediately, stockpile some 9mm, and then get a carbine/rifle as soon as you can.
For a concealed carry gun it’s 180. I got OSP version with the Shield red dot sight on it, which is the first time that I’ve had a red dot on a pistol. I absolutely love it. I can pick the dot up much more quickly than I can the iron sights. And the cowitnessed iron sights on the Hellcat are pretty great to start with. I’ve only had it out to the range twice but find that I can operate it easily enough coming from Glocks. It’s relatively easy to shoot, especially with the extended 13 round magazines, but it’s snappy with the 11 round magazine, particularly without the pinky extension.
For concealed carry the crossbreed holster that Springfield is selling with it is great. Keeps the package tucked away neatly and fits the optic very well.
I would not choose this as a first/only gun if you don’t plan to carry it. I keep a full-sized 1911 pistol in my nightstand so that I can have a light, more rounds, and a bigger grip. I also have a couple of rifles. My favorite for a new shooter is a Ruger PC Carbine, which shoots 9mm from Glock magazines and is a great gun to step up on from a Ruger 10/22.
