It's not as uppity as the old Whole Foods but you're still getting snacks that are chocolate covered peanut butter instead of stuff like Oreos at a normal grocery store. I'm not saying TJs food is healthy, but you can at least tell what it is vs the average grocery aisle which is all cheTmicals.
On the topic, I went to a Whole Foods recently and that place was a dystopian shitshow. Just piles of Alexas intermixed with bananas and tons of zombie personal shoppers running around. To me it is clearly the worst grocery store now. |

I remember when the first Trader Joe’s came to town and my parents loved it because it was the only place in town that had a good wine and cheese selection, and no other grocery store regularly sold Royal Stilton, which my dad loved.
I never really visited a TJ’s between 2000 and 2015, but when I was shocked when I found out TJ’s was the bargain grocery store in Manhattan. I was kind of pumped at first, but then I actually went to TJ’s e few blocks away and the line was through the store, and the quality was awful. It was nothing compared to what the 1990s version was. |
