One is Christian intellectual types who like the traditions and going to church with others like them, having intellectual discussions about religion, etc. The other is preppies/blue bloods/old money types who like going to church with their fellow rich people. Hate it or love it, but everyone needs a church home, and the Episcopal church is especially good at serving these demographics.
Obviously avoid the weird, shitlib parishes flying the rainbow flags and whatnot. |

my family name goes back to the 1600s in america, and they were episcopalian yankees. until my great-grandfather married an italian woman. weirdly, she wasn't at all religious, so he wasn't raised catholic. BUT he in turn married a GERMAN catholic, and the family became ETHNIC catholic (though we still have the anglo name and are anglo presenting). tragic miscegenation. |
