It has people of all kinds, but there are two types who are an especially good fit for it. One is Christian intellectual types who like the traditions and going to church with others like them, having intellectual discussions about religion, etc. The other is preppies/blue bloods/old money types who like going to church with their fellow rich people. Hate it or love it, but everyone needs a church home, and the Episcopal church is especially good at serving these demographics.
Obviously avoid the weird, shitlib parishes flying the rainbow flags and whatnot. |

as a tradition anglicanism has plenty to commend it. as a body of churches the Episcopalian denomination is pretty awful. |

my family name goes back to the 1600s in america, and they were episcopalian yankees. until my great-grandfather married an italian woman. weirdly, she wasn't at all religious, so he wasn't raised catholic. BUT he in turn married a GERMAN catholic, and the family became ETHNIC catholic (though we still have the anglo name and are anglo presenting). tragic miscegenation. |
