I worked my way up, starting on the floor doing tailoring and gopher shit thanks to a referral from my father, who had worked for the company for decades. They paid for me to go to school in Milan a few years ago and the formal education plus on-job experience paid off. I was able to rise to the level of essentially second from the chief designer in 2018. At that point, a group of friends I'd made in the industry formed a consortium and did a leveraged buyout of the company. I've been its CEO ever since. The benefit is that I have a lot more overarching control of things than ever before. The downside is I get much less hands on time to actually cut and design, which was my original passion.
