Carpet blows. Wood flooring is almost always better and if you really WANT a carpet just do area rugs.

I’m looking at a house that has wall-to-wall carpet on the main floor, but the description says it is all hardwood underneath and I’m assuming that means the carpeTTT can be ripped out?

If it was nice hardwood flooring -- the kind you'd prefer over carpeting -- the carpeting probably wouldn't be there.

It depends on the age of the house. Mid-20th century it was common to have wood floors under the wall-to-wall. They might not be in great shape but could probably be refinished and come out pretty nice.

Wood floor may need serious work(sanding/refinish) or need to be ripped up and replaced entirely depending on its condition. Wood flooring could also just mean "plywood"

carpet - easier for kids to play on, fall on, etc.

cloth seats - more comfy. don't cool or heat up too much.

If you end up buying in CT, email me. I have a Vietnamese guy (the only ppl you should hire for flooring) who does my floors. I'll ask him if he'll go to CT (he's in MA). He does great work and charges very reasonable prices (much better than youll get from American contractors, who will likely subcontract to someone like him anyway).

Yes, it was carpet in the bedrooms and tile in the halls, bathrooms, living room, and kitchen. The kitchen had the tile put over a layer of linoleum. Also an outdoor pergola (not up to code) and a reno bathroom window that is also not up to code which is going to cost a mint to tear out that I still haven't gotten to yet.

Back in the 90s they put in an illegal apartment inside the garage... you can still see where they had drawn a toilet hole.

Who does these kinds of things to a home they own? Baffling. Granted there were multiple owners as time went on.

I’ve come across a lot of classic colonials and capes that have been ruined by some prole “renovation” inside or some tacky addition or a garage built in 2006 that doesn’t match the house at all. These people must be stopped.
