a ton of correspondence audits are just people not reporting the basis on a stock transaction, omitting income that the IRS has a 1099 for, shit like that. people are really bad at this stuff. there's often not even a human really involved until and unless you challenge the IRS's position - it's all automated IRS computer shit at the start. |
