Clyburn demanded a black VP and a bunch of black appointees (see all the Lisa Cooks appointed everywhere and 2/3s of Biden's legal appointees have been black and Latino females). Problem for B was that there was only one black politician with the status justifying being given the VP slot, and that was Kamala Harris. He absolutely had to pick a black woman, but he wasn't "forced" to pick an unlikeable and incompetent cunt -- he did that voluntarily because he knew that it would make it VERY unattractive to try and remove him from office.
