Iran signals willingness to give up enrichment

Iran’s atomic energy chief Mohammad Eslami says Tehran will not abandon its right to enrich uranium or hand over its stockpiles despite US pressure and threats.
He described enrichment as an essential part of Iran’s peaceful nuclear industry and such activities comply with international safeguards under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
“Once again, the issue of uranium enrichment has been raised, and it has been said that it should be put on the agenda for negotiations. But enrichment is an inseparable part of the nuclear process,” Eslami said.
“Even the Americans have made nuclear technology a priority in their national development, national security, and national defence documents… So these claims are deception and lies.” |
