It's really not, no. America is still the richest most powerful country in the world and has tons of natural resources and cultural capital. At the absolute worst it would become a *much* more prosperous version of Brazil, and Brazil stopped being a third world country a long time ago. I actually think America and China will just dominate this century like Firefly predicted they would. America and China both have strong fundamentals, that's the way things are. In any case, within 50 years almost all human labor will be obsolete and terms like third world won't really be applicable to anything anymore.
