How many screening interviews? I prbly had like 100 or so apps. I'd just copy and paste the job qualifications into ur resume. HR is dumb as fuck and will let qualified candidates slip by bc the candidate didn't have the magic words.

Any feedback from the HR ppl? Know anyone at these companies?

One of my friends applied online and got no response. He sent me his resume and I sent it to the hiring mgr. D00der works here now. Try to have ppl at the comp forward ur resume. Just know HR is shit and are often a pain in the ass for hiring mgrs.

no, i'm super happy. and i have a shit paying profession. but you get compensated in other ways. for example, i'm at home rite nao.

i talked to my boss yesterday (he is less a boss and more a herder of cats who gives guidance to make sure we are on the road to tenure) and i needed to clarify about vacation and he gave me wonderful news. "well, you got 20 to start because you started midyear and then the new contract is 40 vacation days at start of new academic year and you can only roll over 40 in any year...so start using them whenever you wish and are not scheduled"

so i'm in my robe, chilling.

also...let me say that i'm an academic librarian so my environment is different.

let me tell you a story from tuesday...student comes asks about books on graffiti. take him to the section. we talk. 2 hours later he asks if I could be one of his mentors. super smart late 20s dude who did time inside (2 years) and trying to straighten out. we took graf and moved it into a discussion of art, truth, beauty and aesthetics. a person in the right environment can make a huge impact. in my environment, when students see my background and learn a little about me...it makes a difference.

It's tough man.

I'd say 70% are in "good" jobs right now. Rest are in some shit or mommy track or never practiced. I'd say 1/3 of that 70% are happy with their career.

And I went to an elite school. Ljl.
