at a firm I hated billing clients at unjustifiably high rates and being pressured to bill everything, even when I was half assing it. felt like much more of a parasite than I do in house. I also think you underestimate the role a t10 lawyer can play in an organization just be being more intelligent and driven than your average biz drone.
