watching season 2 now, actually really good
Critics really shit on it. Huge disparity between critic score and audience score

Does Netflix have enough marketing budget to pay shills for shows that completely flopped? Where do I sign up?
Maybe it gets better, but I have never gotten a stronger “watching more of this show would be a colossal waste of time” vibe from a first episode. There was no synergy among any of the actors. It was narrowly targeted at our demographic, but was like hanging out with the worst, least interesting peers you know without turning up the awfulness to a level where it becomes fun like Succession.
It’s as if the creative team set out to remake aging buddy stories like the Big Chill, Diner, but neglected to generate any narrative hook and instead ran a beta AI that trained on existing screenplays and assembled characters and plot lines at random with no human input. She’s a lonely marine biologist, he’s the kooky neighbor upstairs with no job, they dated in college but grew apart, meet again when her dog pees on his shoes, then go out for a pastrami sandwich where they talk about how his gay brother is dying of rare cancer. Or whatever the fuck was the plot, I can’t remember.
