I looked up the daily records for deaths in some of the hardest hit states to see how the second wave states are doing compared to the first wave.

Basically the next week should clarify whether FL/TX/AZ/CA will ever have a chance at reaching the daily death totals of the northeast and midwest. Note this doesn't account for population at all, so MA/MI/CT/NJ were actually significantly worse off per capita than the raw numbers suggest.
