-very dry implements -little cottony balls of dry puffy tinder material, like certain dead/dessicated plants or dry wood shavings -a stick (the stick you will be twisting around) with a dry, sharpened, bark-free nub (the rolling surface) -a receiving surface, which should be something like a narrow, v-shaped cut made into a dry, bark-free piece of wood
arrange the receiving surface so that it is steady (hold it down with rocks or something), place the tinder directly around the cut, and then place the rubbing stick between your palms and RAPIDLY roll it back and forth over the same small area on your receiving stick. the speed is what will generate the heat to set the tinder on fire. it may take a few tries before you get your system balanced.
it's a pain, but if you can do those things, you can probably generate some sparks. |
