Being generous to your view, you've got a hard short-term cap of like 70% EV adoption just based on the people who rent. That means you need about 70% of all remaining sales to be EV. Not gonna happen. Not even close. Range anxiety is still a problem. Charging infrastructure is still shit. And EVs are more expensive for consumers and less profitable for manufacturers. Five years is just way too ambitious. |

Average age of a car is about 11 years, so tack on 15-20 years to that to figure out when most cars on the road will be electric.
An underrated factor is that American incomes aren't following automobile price increases (which increase roughly at the rate of inflation). It's possible that this is a major drag on EV adoption, since they cost a lot more money. |

Soon electric cars will be comparable or better to ICE cars by these metrics as well, at which point the ICE will be completely obsolete.
