Date: June 24th, 2021 11:18 AM Author: opaque office Is there really a big problem with people skipping out on hearings that is solved by bail? Are poor people more likely to skip out? Seems like another way to make life harder unnecessarily for people without money. I would be willing to revisit if there was actually a problem that arose out of eliminating bail but for now it just seems to put money in the hands of shady bondsmen. Defund the police is a bad idea, for instance, because we’ve seen crime go up when police officers are removed. Don’t think you can say the same thing about bail. |

It would eliminate the flight risk and make further criminal activity while out on "bail" extremely risky. I'd accept that as an alternative to the bail system.
