#TrusttheScience, right?
We used a high quality unique national mortality dataset linked to national hospital and SARS-CoV-2 PHE testing data, in-conjunction with clinical review, to identify 25 CYP who died of SARS-CoV-2 infection during the first pandemic year. This corresponds to 2 deaths per million across the CYP population in England. We estimated the infection fatality rate is 5 per 100,000 indicating >99·995% of CYP recover from SARS-CoV-2 infection. SARS-CoV-2 contributed to 0·8% of the 3105 deaths from all causes. During the same time period studied there were 124 deaths from suicide and 268 deaths from trauma, emphasising COVID-19 is rarely fatal in CYP.

Yeah dude, it’s nuts. France has already rolled out its version of the health pass - As soon as they said no cafe or club without vax over a million ppl registered to get their first dose.
Here, from the end of September it looks like a COVID pass from the NHS will be required to enter clubs and other venues with large crowds - not sure the number but assuming 1k to 5k+ Person venues. It’s going to find a way to be required for international travel eventually. If I don’t get jabbed, my company may have grounds to fire me so I’d lose my job and get deported.
More than 800k ppl had COVID last week here tho. Even with 70% of the adult population having at least 1 dose, and 55% of adults being fully vaxxed. News outlets are running an anomalous story of a young kid who recently died of COVID to guilt everyone to get vaxxed. Tons of social pressure to “do your part and get the jab.” In the meantime, people are going to raves and festivals and cases are climbing.
The cuntry forgot COVID was a thing during the Euro cup. It was an absolute shit show with everyone kissing hugging and spraying their fluids everywhere in huge groups.
I’ve been amazed by how much frustration and protest there might be, yet Britons love to follow the rules and ridicule those who step out of line.
Currently tho, there are no legal limits on social distancing, group sizes, or masks. Freedom day, when alll the rules went out the window, was Monday. Most agree we’ll have a month of fun and freedom, and then lockdown number 4 is likely in September or October.
Who knows, we’ll see.

Richard Dunn, associate Professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Connecticut ( here ), who has studied the relation between mental health and the economy, told Reuters by email that arguments for why lockdowns may increase suicide risk present valid arguments, but that “they are selective” and that some of these arguments “ignore important countervailing effects”.
According to Dunn, such countervailing effects include technology that facilitates social contact ( here ), and a “locus of control” ( here ) through which individuals can take proactive steps to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. “Suicide risk increases as individuals feel they lack control over their life and what control they do have is without worth,” said Dunn.
In addition, Dunn said, is the concept of “social connectedness”, which tends to increase in the face of a communal threat, such as a pandemic. “During wars and natural disasters, despite their great economic upheaval, suicide rates tend to drop because people rally to a common cause,” he said. To exemplify this, Dunn referred to the numerous scenes from around the world of people cheering health workers from their balconies ( here , here ).

i will take a look at these, but LOL at this:
'“social connectedness”, which tends to increase in the face of a communal threat, such as a pandemic. “During wars and natural disasters, despite their great economic upheaval, suicide rates tend to drop because people rally to a common cause,” he said. To exemplify this, Dunn referred to the numerous scenes from around the world of people cheering health workers from their balconies'
also this: "Suicide risk increases as individuals feel they lack control over their life and what control they do have is without worth"
can't imagine COVID lockdowns could have had anything to do with people feeling a loss of control of their lives
