I presume that his 6000 sf house would not be as impressive to him today.

TV above the fireplace, instead of a tube tv atop a fake corinthian column?

Tony would walk in to the house, see it, and say "whoa, Shakespeare over here."

Carmella would get angry and enroll in literature adult education night classes at the local community college because, as she yells over dinner, "a little culture wouldn't kill us, Tony."

He bought the property and had the house done in the late 80's when the total cost of everything would be well under a million in today's dollars. If he had to buy that now, he wouldn't be able to afford it.

He'd be living next to TMF on the train tracks. There'd be an episode where Christopher and Paulie have some mishaps trying to kill TMF's pitbulls because the constant barking is annoying Tony.

Paulie: "We've got orders to go to the Russian's house."

Christopher: "Russian? Are you sure? There's a lot of dreidel music coming from his house."

Paulie: "He keeps saying he's Russian, so he's Russian. Who cares?"

*Klezmer music blasting from TMF's backyard, obscured by a train whistle*

The transition of Johnny Sack’s new house being surrounded by farmland to McMansions at the end was one of the most on point bits they had about NJ in the show

he technically couldn't even afford it when he bought it on the show's timeline. they had to work in a line or two about how carmella's dad, a homebuilder, built their house for them, presumably at a discount.

Tacky as it is it's dumb to call that house a mcmansion. faggots just like using that term for every big house built in the last 40 years.

I was thinking about this, and technically you're right. It's got enough of the trappings of one, though, pre-building boom/housing bubble.

It stands to reason that Tony would have gone with a m-m had he built/bought a few years later, though

There's a clear enough difference between Tony's house and the other big houses on the show (Johnny Sacks, Rosalie Apriles, Richie Apriles). Carmellas spec house too even though both were built by her father. Spec house they made generic and cut corners to maximize $ whereas Tony's they likely made high quality and specific to their new money guido trash tastes.

Tony says on the show his house was worth "a million two" (1.2 million). He probably bought it for like half that.
