Just for my own entertainment, I kept a little spreadsheet throughout the evening and night, tracking votes, to keep track of what spread of votes still coming in had to go blue or red for different outcomes in each state. The thing that blew me away in the early morning hours is that in the battleground states like PA and MI, the “total votes” kept jumping up by multiple 100,000s, at the same time that Biden votes jumped up by multiple 100,000s: in the early morning hours like 4am. I kept having to increase the denominators in my spreadsheet by 100,000s of “unexpected” votes, in the middle of the night. Without those extra shit ton of “unexpected” votes coming in in the middle of the night, Biden does not win any of those states. If you are trying to say, "Well why didn't they count the mail votes before the in-person votes," the answer is because that would be completely ridiculous. To count in an in-person vote, you just drop it into the scanning machine. To count a mail vote, you have to open the envelope, verify the signatures, and then drop it into the scanning machine. I guess they could have put all the in-person votes into a filing cabinet and scanned them after Election Day once all the mail ballots are opened. But what would be the point of that? Just scan the in-person ballots as people fill them out and be done with it. |
