They then demand payment - CASH ONLY, NIGGA! - and if you refuse, they either break your windshield wipers, violently beat you/your car, or try to rape you. It is the most third world phenomenon I've ever heard of, and it exists in major American cities. Real clown world shit.

These kids are just trying to make a buck. They are generally polite when you don't have a buck to offer for their efforts. When they pull that shit about trying to break a wiper they're bluffing. They know how wipers work, wipers have an elbow. They're just making things inconvenient for you because you got agro. Deal with it.
I live mostly cashless just to have an excuse for when the muggers decide to make me a target. Bmore city life just be like that. |

The best place to this in Baltimore is probably this intersection:
You would want to be heading westbound on North Ave (where the Honda and the Chevy Pickup are stopped), since you can fly over the bridge and be on 83 in no time. Southbound on Howard works too but I don't know if squeegee boys ever hit that side of the intersection. You could come up north bound on Howard, roll down your window and fog up the dudes squeegeeing cars headed west on North Ave. |

He was in a convertible and ask that they not wash his windshield, so they hit him pretty hard. Between them and the dirtbike racers on Sundays that ride with about 100 other people, all hitting cars with their fist if you dare pull into the intersection while they've commandeered the streets, the city isn't a good idea on weekends. They intimidate and don't take no for an answer. One time I gave in and paid them after they wouldn't take no for an answer and they had the nerve to badger me for more money because it was their "birthday." Most of these guys are bullies if not outright criminals. And before anyone goes off on me, I'm as liberal as they come and you also don't know what race I am, so don't try that one either. |

Luckily as you see, there are also a lot of really nice people in this world and in this city, who are sorry you went through this and are here to say fuck those rude and homophobic people. A lot of us are sick of them being a problem. I'm hoping our new Mayor, who takes office next month, will put the city on a better path. He has humble beginnings and has a great attitude toward them, which is compassionate yet firm at the same time. There hasn't been anybody like him who has been mayor, in decades. It was a beautiful day in the summer and 4 p.m. and I had the bright idea, "Let's drive through West Baltimore."
It only took a few minutes before we were out of Downtown and within 30 seconds of getting to an intersection in West Baltimore we were peeling out trying to find a freeway. 10-year-olds holding cash and drugs were banging on the window. |
