I'll be 48 when the oldest graduates, and somehow that seems like a greater life changing event.
We are not unusual at my kids' schools. I'd estimate a third of the parents had at least one child in their 40s. Which seems typical for UMC professionals these days. The young parents often get confused for nannies.
My grandparents lived into their 90s and my mid 70s parents and all their friends are very active, so I don't fear aging. Unless I get utterly pawned, and the odds of that does increase the older you get. With a SAHM wife and three kids, I do sock away as much as possible so that if anything happens they'll be ok.
