I think the entire point is that he does not represent based and trad Catholics.
His insane political and social views are irrelevant to the faithful. Its sort of like going back to the 900s and asking a Catholic if John the 7th murdering and sleeping around was relevant to the deposit of the faith. Its not. The sinful actions of the man do not change anything.
The only things he has done which run close to stuff that would actually matter is his modification to the death penalty and his sly footnote on divorce and remarriage.

I dont see the value in getting into a pissing contest with evangelicals.
You might be very well correct that, on average, trad caths are less "based" than their evangelical counterparts. Thats irrelevant to my point.
You don't really understand the Catholic Church if you think that we have to "submit" to the pope's views on immigrants and such.
I submit to the magisterium and ex-cathedra statements. Not what Francis says to a reporter on a plane.
