Is there anything more dystopian than "Amazon Pharmacy"?

In fewer than 25 years, we went from Ask Jeeves to The Minority Report. That's not hyperbole: To borrow an analogy, the Internet has transmogrified into a single nervous system embracing every human mind. We are almost at that critical juncture when every human on earth will be connected to a single network through which all thoughts, desires, plans, dreams, and actions will flow as nervous system impulses.
In physiology, the functions of the nervous system--sensation, integration, and response--enable the body to regulate its internal processes to maintain homeostasis. In engineering terms, it's a continuously modulated feedback control system. The keyword is control: Industrial control systems measure a process variable and then use the output from a control function to modulate the response of a control element to adjust the manipulated variable.
It took multicellular life more than half a billion years to figure out control theory and to develop an optimal control strategy. Big Tech's control strategy is to increase shareholder value so that Big Tech can continue to grow. Unfortunately, the absence of meaningful regulation has led to such unbridled growth that Big Tech's revenues exceed the GDPs of most countries. Amazon's alone would put it in the top 40.
Amazon knows what you buy, eat, read, watch, and do. Now, Amazon wants to know what medicines you take; it seems acquiring PillPack wasn't good enough. Even if you don't do business with Amazon, you're more than likely friends with or doing business with someone who does. Besides, in addition to PillPack, Amazon owns Blink, Ring, Audible, Twitch, Whole Foods, MGM, and many more companies that were quickly shuttered to "encourage" competition, like Diapers.com. That consolidation of power is an authoritarian government's wet dream. The government's control strategy is simple: Acquire more power and have more control.
And that's why the government hasn't done anything about Big Tech. The government loves private business when it does their dirty work or provides them with services that the taxpayers would never authorize the government to do on its own, like data mining enormous troves of information collected by Jeff, Tim, Mark, Sergey, and Larry. Who needs informants when you've got precogs?
There is no individual autonomy under authoritarianism and there is no way to escape authoritarianism without violence. That's the future we're staring down the barrel of. In 2012, Eben Moglen summed up what's at stake better than anyone else: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKOk4Y4inVY (transcript: https://softwarefreedom.org/events/2012/Moglen-rePublica-Berlin/transcript.html ). It's definitely worth checking out.

And they called Ted K. crazy.
Really, there is no hope left here on Earth. Everything is so gay now. Just try to ride it out as best you can since we'll be dead before long luckily.

You can only block the shit they put on your computer, like tracking cookies. That's why they shifted to a walled garden approach many years ago: Requiring users to login prevents users from remaining anonymous. Now, they're making their gardens nicer and nicer so that you never need to leave. Apple pioneered the approach, which is why they weren't taken seriously at first.
From the December 1984 issue of Byte Magaine: "There are two kinds of people in the world: people who say Apple isn't just a company, it's a cause; and people who say Apple isn't a cause, it's just a company. Both groups are right. Nature has suspended the principle of noncontradiction where Apple is concerned. Apple is more than just a company because its founding has some of the qualities of myth ... Apple is two guys in a garage undertaking the mission of bringing computing power, once reserved for big corporations, to ordinary individuals with ordinary budgets. The company's growth from two guys to a billion-dollar corporation exemplifies the American Dream. Even as a large corporation, Apple plays David to IBM's Goliath, and thus has the sympathetic role in that myth." https://archive.org/details/byte-magazine-1984-12/page/n399/mode/2up?view=theater

To be fair,
For some people, believe it or not, macro level social issues which are contributing to the degradation of our society actually are significant problems of genuine and legitimate concern.
Not *everyone* here is a hideously deformed, low-IQ, bitter and greasy methed-out middle-aged homosexual career criminal with a chronic drug problem, no family, no friends, no career, no assets, no higher education / training, no prospects, and multiple felony convictions for retarded crimes of desperation under his belt, who has no choice but to spend all of his waking time and energy fighting pathetic individual-level battles over basic shit while hanging off the very lowest rung of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.
