Divorcemos- advice on identifying red flags in relationships?

I am a child of divorce and I didn’t want to get married. I screened very carefully given my family history (and it still blew up in my face).
What I screened for:
- a woman whose parents weren’t divorced - a woman of similar socioeconomic and religious background as myself - a woman without high material requirements - decently educated - similar enough outlooks on children - screened for our problem solving abilities when we fought, which was rarely - lived together for years first
And still lol @ me now. |

After kids and especially covid, I learned very quickly that she responds very poorly to stress and lashes out (at me, the kids, everyone).
It has been a poor marriage since having children and very painful for me. I just take things day by day but divorce could happen anytime really. I would prefer she initiate it if we do so I have less guilt about it.
Also, when we dated we were both relatively moderate politically, even though she leaned leftist. Now she is a rabid covid believer, scared of going outside, and wants to give the covid vaccine to my young children.
I would encourage anyone considering marriage (which should only be done if you are having kids) to make sure to screen how she responds to long-standing stressful situations before taking the plunge. And of course avoid any woman that believes in giving an untested experimental vaccine to young children. |
