The more I argued with shitlibs, the better I came to know their dialectic. First they counted on the stupidity of their adversary, and then, when there was no other way out, they themselves simply played stupid. If all this didn't help, they pretended not to understand, or, if challenged, they changed the subject in a hurry, quoted platitudes which, if you accepted them, they immediately related to entirely different matters, and then, if again attacked, gave ground and pretended not to know exactly what you were talking about. Whenever you tried to attack one of these apostles, your hand closed on a jelly-like slime which divided up and poured through your fingers, but in the next moment collected again. But if you really struck one of these fellows so telling a blow that, observed by the audience, he couldn't help but agree, and if you believed that this had taken you at least one step forward, your amazement was great the next day. The shitlib had not the slightest recollection of the day before, he rattled off his same old nonsense as though nothing at all had happened, and, if indignantly challenged, affected amazement; he couldn't remember a thing, except that he had proved the correctness of his assertions the previous day.
Sometimes I stood there thunderstruck.
I didn't know what to be more amazed at: the agility of their tongues or their virtuosity at lying.
Gradually I began to hate them.

I was never a shitlib (voted Romney 2012 and sat out 2008 as I hated mccain) , but it was too difficult to articulate who the actual enemy was until Trump won in 2016 then seeing the deep state unmask themselves in early 2017, pure frothing at the mouth Jewish power and evil and lies, utterly satanic to its core. That changed everything for me.
Unmasking the deep state inadvertently will always be Trump’s greatest accomplishment.

when wokeness and crt went from the fringes to being front and center, and the realization that they want people like me marginalized or dead. there was no single event that caused this, it's been boiling for a while.
i used to consider tumblr woke types as naive retarded children who could just be ignored. now that their ideology has become mainstream the threat has become much more serious.

There was a precursor to GamerGate.
In 2011 there was an atheism conference with Richard Dawkins and some atheist chick blogger claimed some guy politely hit on her in the elevator, she rejected him, and he left her alone. She wrote that the atheism movement was not taking feminism seriously.
Dawkins wrote her back in a satirical message called 'Dear Muslima' where he destroyed her argument and compared her to a Muslim woman who was living under Sharia.
The atheists semi canceled Dawkins and came back with Atheism Plus which added a bunch of woke CRT stuff in, and the atheism movement completely went away, everyone quit entirely, and the woke people went on to lay the foundations for GamerGate.
Also completely insane that the video game industry was able to get away with "We hate our fans because they are wrong" and still turn a profit. What kind of suckers bought into this crap? How do entertainment companies make so much money when they hate their fans for wrongthink?

I grew up with colorblindness drilled into me, voted for Obama, etc, but I lived outside the US for an extended period and came to the realization that without blacks, you can actually have a non-broken society.
Shortly thereafter, Trayvon Martin happened and made me believe that even this view was too charitable. I knew libs had to die.

When I realized they had no principles at all
This may sound obvious now - but many years ago I actually believed them wrt their progressive goals / what they said and would argue in good faith
To see the way they turned on a dime in the Trump era to being mouthpieces of corporate news and the ((billionaire class)), especially during the 2020 riots - was frightening. That was a turning point at which they - even the 'normie libs' - became blatantly dangerous. There's no guiding principles, nothing - they just froth at the mouth and follow whatever msnbc / cnn / the atlantic says, literally.
"Don't you think these riots are causing more deaths to the people you're protesting for and damaging small minority owned businesses and *their* neighborhoods?"
"yeap, i do"
"well then...?"
"I support the peaceful protesters"
^ this is a dangerous force many of us haven't even come to grips with yet with what happened in 2020 - anarcho-tyranny backed by the full force of the state and media, THIS is the dangerous thing, that libs have no principles , except one - the one and one above all: feeling superior to their perceived cultural inferiors - the american kulaks / chuds, that is the ONLY principle they follow..
edit: over the trump years more broadly - when it hit me, viscerally, that the xo meme and epic thread that goes something like: "the usa is a smoldering wasteland dystopia" libs: "we did it" - was actually what we're headed towards

I'm younger than most of the bort and I'm kind of a natural contrarian, so I only arrived to this position about two years ago.
1. Grew up poor in a shitty town in Louisiana, almost everyone was right-wing but I decided to be a liberal to be a contrarian ass, also get addicted to the internet during which most websites were also either left-wing or contrarian.
2. Move to a liberal state, see the higher quality of living, feel values affirmed.
3. See the rise in absolutely insane leftist view points, particularly GamerGate, get shifted hard to the right for a little while.
4. Calm down, feel as though I just got radicalized, move back to being a centrist that hates left-wing cultural bullshit but otherwise also doesn't feel at home on the right, am still conditioned to think the right is evil.
5. Join the army, still a natural contrarian, move a little bit to the left but also become more patriotic/become more aware of racial differences and also feel that many people lack self-determination.
6. Get out, go to a shitlib campus, start shifting to the right again, COVID occurs, start actively hating libs, reexamine my dislike of Trump and realize I had been conditioned to hate him.
7. Summer riots, Rittenhouse trial, seeing Biden be unanimously praised by the media despite being a dribbling retard, and shrieking libs further pushes me to the right.
Nowadays I couldn't tell you what my current political ideology is. I really like Huey Long, and I've gotten to the point where I find engaging with libs too demoralizing to my psyche that I just can't do it. Realizing that I couldn't explain why conservatives believe what they believe when I was a shitlib, then realizing I can perfectly explain shitlib ideology as a conservative further affirms my current beliefs, but I am too dumb as of right now to identify myself as anything specific, I can only give my opinions on individual situations.

I came out of high school very libertarian, and not having read very much. The Zimmerman and Darren Wilson/Michael Brown trials had already given me general disgust for journalists and the media. Reading Plato's Republic and and Rousseau in my first political theory course, at the same time the Berkeley riots were happening, was a huge awakening moment for me. The small qualms I'd had with representative government in general were much more clearly explicated there, and my qualms with hypercapitalism began to be fleshed out when I read Tocqueville. It immediately seemed clear to me that all of this ends in a lot of violence -- American differences are too irreconcilable, and our polity too big. This is when I became convinced that some sort of collapse or schism was on the horizon. Even still, I was still fairly bluepilled on the race and Jewish questions.
I then found BAPist vitalism, which already meshed pretty well with my lifestyle at the time (lift and enjoy the sun), and I came to realize the value in judging political and moral positions by the condition of their adherents (layman's teleology), as well as the value of mogging instead of arguing. (I was a competitive debate kid growing up, so this took some learning.) I found a lot of the Twitter NRx/Dark Enlightenment remnants useful as diagnosticians (despite finding them years past their prime), but I reject a lot of the technofuturism they advance in their rare moments of positive vision. I am persuaded more that a Wendell Berry-like localism is closer to the ideal for human living. I remain deeply religious, and and therefore persuaded that two primary focuses of government should be to combat evil, and foster human flourishing. I don't think either of those things is possible without a very traditional, reactionary government.
I was very skeptical of the existence of a deep state until well over halfway into Trump's presidency. Seeing him thwarted on multiple levels of government at every turn coincided with my first interaction with a lot of Schmittian ideas, as well as Moldbug's writings on the administrative/bureaucratic state. I am now firmly convinced that government is simply comprised of individuals who make up many disparate interest groups, all striving for their own ends -- which necessarily implies a deep state. Part of this radicalization came about as a result of covid; I watched the "experts" -- who I had long trusted completely -- be drastically wrong about virtually all facets of the virus at several points in time. I watched these experts reverse and re-reverse themselves and engage in extreme revisionism, with no capacity to explain how or why they had been wrong or now were right. I watched these experts deny any reasonable exploration into the cause of the virus -- which has later been all but confirmed to have been the Wuhan virology lab, which was verboden to speak of at all during 2020. I watched these same people prescribe insane restrictions that were divorced from any real risk analysis, and justify it all using "science." And I noticed the congruence between institutions like the WEF, which promulgated a need for servitude and reduced standard of living, and the outcome of the fraudvirus mitigation measures. This all confirmed for me Moldbug's analysis of The Cathedral as a manufacturer of false expertise (of which I had previously been skeptical).
I became much more hardened on the racial issues during the Summer of St. George the Fentanyl Felon. The chimpouts, the media enablement, and the government's impotence / complicity all combined to:
- confirm for me that The Cathedral / Deep State runs the show;
- persuade me that racial differences are probably irreconcilable, at least in our current situation, and we need to segregate and deport;
- confirm my belief in the inevitability of collapse.
I became more skeptical of the viability of a Right Wing "march through the institutions" after the most recent fraud election -- there are more institutional hurdles for this than most realize.
When I began to see that the left wants me to live as a bugman serf, I realized the truth of Schmitt's friend/enemy distinction as the defining rule of politics.
And that's when I started to hate them.

Like probably many for me was Zimmerman trial. I largely accepted uncritically media portrayal of events like a dummy as it played out first few days, then gradually over next few weeks realized they lied about fucking everything.
Second one was saw live as Cuomo said “and remember, it’s illegal for you to read Wikileaks, we as journalists can read it and will tell you about it” was another wait wtf moment.

XO olds started shifting between about 2008 and 2014.
This board has a long history of believing that a knowable shared reality exists, supporting negative civil rights, and being attuned to differences in social status.
That explains the long history of IQ and crime rate discussion, the general support for gay marriage, opposition to the Iraq War that far exceeded the opposition from the general public, and the obsession with ranking just about everything and determining whether it is prole or not prole.
Until around 2008, that bundle of views clearly aligned more closely with Democratic politics. ITE, the Obama presidency, and other social forces began changing that. By the end of Obama's first term, hope was fading and progressive activists weren't getting enough change. We started seeing things like the Title IX Dear Colleagues Letter, the responses to the Trayvon case, the UVA sexual assault fiasco, the rise of BLM, and so on.
That shift tended to demand denials of reality, emphasize subjective experience, elevate victimization, and organize the left along identity-based interest groups and coalitions of those groups.
As the left moved father left, the board found itself father right, at least relatively. Then, when the shitlib left really kicked into high gear around 2014 and 2015, it activated a reactionary impulse to oppose the looney excesses of the left, which later aligned with Trump support.
That reaction then began to form into a more structured and affirmative conservative ideology to form a counterweight to the woke menace and its open hostility to white men. The wave of trans activism and denial of the reality of biological sex further solidified the conservative reaction.
(There are more details we could add, but I'm writing this on my phone and have decided this is enough.)

I don't think Shitlibism in its current form really existed 20 years ago. Sure, there were some early fanatics and academics spouting CRT and woke ideology for a while but I don't think recall them ever gaining traction with any significant portion of the population.
I grew up a moderate with liberal leanings in the classical sense, fearful of totalitarianism and the State. I was socially liberal but didn't have an economic ideology until late high school/early college where I was spoon-fed free market global capitalist economics.
By college graduation in the mid 2000s, I was a chill, stoner Libertarian that had the same social values as my more Democrat-leaning classmates but I was more distrustful of government institutions.
The 2008 Financial Crisis, ITE, and associated legal job market, made me rethink my beliefs. I was still distrustful of government institutions, but I am also distrustful of mega-corporations since they are the main actors subverting our freedoms, subjugating humanity, and numbing our minds.
I briefly dabbled with Socialism and still think a form of Socialism whereby workers or citizens have some ownership interest in the business they work for or country they live in (a la UBI) would go a long way.
Regarding my strong disdain of shitlibism, it started the year Trump won the election which also coincided with a move to the Bay Area for a new job. I saw how hysterical everyone was about Trump's victory, libshrews ready to dance in the streets in pantsuits reduced to unconsolable sobbing, shitlibs of all genders losing their minds across the Bay.
As an aside, I think it's ridiculous that libshews would play "man" in their pantsuits in the morning then cry like babies in the evening once news of the loss of their woman-in-man's- clothing leader spread.
For the next 4 years I had to spend most of my social interactions carefully censoring my true beliefs and views since they were clearly less "valuable" and "valid" than those of women, lgbtq, and blacks. Shitlib narrative could not be challenged and shitlibs were quickly outraged by different views.
Somehow, I managed to maintain and grow my social circles, find myself a good girl (who is a shitlib, though not fervent) who I've learned to live with. She doesn't argue about politics and mostly just wants to cook, clean, stay in excellent shape, make good money at her chill job, and raise kids. I've been able to enjoy my life shitlibs notwithstanding. Despite the politics, Norcal is just a beautiful place and the weather is amazing too. I'd also still manage to occasionally red-pill friends and coworkers in minor ways (example, during early covid, pre-lockdowns, we all had N-95 masks from the prior year's wildfires and wondering if we should wear them on our commutes. Shitlib media, surgeon general, and Fauci were calling us idiots for masking saying they didn't work and to save them for doctors/nurses. I pointed out the logical inconsistency during a work meeting to my shitlib team who all agreed).
The recent crimewave has changed all that and my anger at shitlibs has grown substantially. To be clear, I was always pro-police even when my shitlib neighbors were up-in-arms last year during the George Floyd protests virtue signaling all over town with murals, posters, lawn-signs, chalk-art, etc. Now, those same neighbors are afraid to leave their homes or go shopping because crime has gotten so bad.
I just see shitlib idealogy as completely irrational, lacking intellectual honesty, and destructive. I still haven't made up my mind over whether this was somewhat planned by oligarchs or an organic result of global capitalism's destruction of civil society and social cohesion.

80s-90s had its own PC craze that terminated in the movie PCU.
60s-70s gave us the Days of Rage and all sorts of Civil Rights wackiness etc. then led to Reagan.
It's a cyclic process that's traveling in a certain direction. The destination is plain. You can read all about it in any number of works.

It may be inferred again that the present movement for women's rights will certainly prevail from the history of its only opponent: Northern conservatism. This is a party which never conserves anything. Its history has been that it demurs to each aggression of the progressive party, and aims to save its credit by a respectable amount of growling, but always acquiesces at last in the innovation. What was the resisted novelty of yesterday is today one of the accepted principles of conservatism; it is now conservative only in affecting to resist the next innovation, which will tomorrow be forced upon its timidity and will be succeeded by some third revolution; to be denounced and then adopted in its turn. American conservatism is merely the shadow that follows Radicalism as it moves forward towards perdition. It remains behind it, but never retards it, and always advances near its leader. . . . Its impotency is not hard, indeed, to explain. It is worthless because it is the conservatism of expediency only, and not of sturdy principle. It intends to risk nothing serious for the sake of the truth, and has no idea of being guilty of the folly of martyrdom. It always when about to enter a protest very blandly informs the wild beast whose path it essays to stop, that its bark is worse than its bite, and that it only means to save its manners by enacting its decent role of resistance: The only practical purpose which it now serves in American politics is to give enough exercise to Radicalism to keep it in wind, and to prevent its becoming pursy and lazy, from having nothing to whip. No doubt, after a few years, when women's suffrage shall have become an accomplished fact, conservatism will tacitly admit it into its creed, and thenceforward plume itself upon its wise firmness in opposing with similar weapons the extreme of baby suffrage; and when that too shall have been won, it will be heard declaring that the integrity of the American Constitution requires at least the refusal of suffrage to asses. There it will assume, with great dignity, its final position.

“ The recent crimewave has changed all that and my anger at shitlibs has grown substantially”
My frustration with the current crime wave is not just the crime; I can live with that as the cost of a lower police presence. It’s the way liberals do everything in their power to make you helpless and vulnerable to crime. Pick up a weapon and defend yourself? Enjoy jail. Avoid criminal people and areas? Well, now you’re racist/classist/fascist so kiss your livelihood goodbye.
What liberals really don’t get is that “equal” punishments really are not equal at all. If I get in a fistfight with a drunk homeless guy who is harassing me and we both got arrested, the homeless guy loses nothing, whereas I would lose everything I’ve worked for for the last 30 years. I’d get fired, I’d have a mark on my record that would prevent me from getting hired somewhere new, etc.

Pleased to read all these effort posts ITT. I’ll throw my experience in the mix.
While conservative for most of my upbringing (parents raised me listening to talk radio, Christian background), I was a bit more of a based centrist in high school and beyond. Like many, I was terminally online during those years and while I wasn’t strictly shitlib, I would have described myself as culturally liberal, economically conservative (lol). I didn’t have much exposure to libs or minorities and was confused why conservatives spent so much time policing other people’s actions. I did at least acknowledge that radical political correctness was crazy and thought that tumblr posters were fringe weirdos that should be ignored.
Gamergate was the first big moment where my ideology shifted. I had never seen journalists lie the way they did during Gamergate. The idea of the entire media machine suppressing truth to support politics was abhorrent to me. Once that mask falls, you start noticing lies everywhere. I didn’t support trump at first, but I acknowledged that the media seemed to be almost coordinating to destroy him. This continued far into his presidency and got more and more outlandish. I started to wonder what they so afraid of.
I’ve hated shitlibs since 2017 and every passing year just intensifies that hate. Covid was an unbelievable scam that I could never have imagined anyone would get away with decade ago. When media, corps and politicians coordinate to destroy you, there are no more political solutions available.
Of course, there is a common thread…

For those poasters talking about MSM and fake news, it's existed for a long time, pre-Trump. It's not just shitlib media, it's global capitalism media.
I saw this as an early Libertarian Ron Paul supporter. Conservative News Media did their best to silence him during the Republican Primaries and debates. Next, I saw it with Bernie in the Democratic Primaries with Hilary.
I hope this provides some clarity on who the real deceivers are.

There were a couple moments for me.
The first was when I got back from a deployment to Afghanistan. Spending a year with barely any internet, not watching the news, etc. really cleared out a lot of the shitlib programing. Plus you get to see the real world, unvarnished, with all its violence, and walk out on patrols among it and live it. But throughout the deployment, I still considered myself a liberal Democrat. As we were leaving Afghanistan, we left through Bagram and had internet again, so I started reading the Times and the Guardian again and felt off put by what I was reading. It just didn’t resonate with me anymore. When I got back to the US, I picked up my car from storage and the radio was still on NPR. it was two drippy, middle-aged women talking about sexual assault. After a year of getting shot at multiple times a week, I just didn’t have any sympathy at all for the “assaults” they were describing. I flipped through some other radio stations to try to find some music, and I found Rush Limbaugh, and it just made so much more sense than the bullshit on NPR and in the Times.
The other “ah-ha” moment I had was watching the NYC gay pride parade in 2015 right after Obergefell. The parade went right by my apartment, but I thought it would be a fun, wild time given they had just won their longtime battle for gay marriage so I went out on the streets. Instead of celebrating, every other float was about tranny-rights in prison. I just thought, “what the fuck is wrong with these people?” They weren’t happy they got gay marriage; they had to make a movement out of sympathizing with a tiny minority of criminal prisoners.
The NPR moment was my switch over, and the tranny-prisoner advocacy cemented my position for a long time.

I’ll add a couple moments that began eroding my shot liberalism but didn’t push me over.
One was the Beer Summit. I was a teenager, watching the situation play out, thinking, “what the duck is Obama thinking?!?” The idea that some police officer would go out of his way to mildly inconvenience some black guy just does not pass the common sense test. When the obvious became undeniable anymore, Obama had egg on his face, but I just shrugged and laughed it off and didn’t read anything more into it.
The Trayvon Martin incident I found myself at odds with the liberal establishment again. It wasn’t so much the misrepresentations in the media that got me as the liberal reaction to the verdict. The jury clearly decided that the case was self defense, but liberals were practically arguing that the verdict should be overturned by fiat. And then Obama weighed in again with his stupid remarks about if he had a son, clearly implying that he supported those who wanted the verdict unconstitutionally overturned. It’s one thing to disagree with the laws that protected Zimmerman, but arguing to overturn the laws to get an outcome you emotionally desire really rubbed me the wrong way.

I stopped being a shitlib during the St. Louis riots following the Michael Brown thing - for some reason Trayvon didn't quite tip me though it got me close enough.
If I'm literally reading the OP question though, I didn't *hate* shitlibs at that point. Got pulled over that line at some point during Trump's campaign, can't pinpoint exactly when.

Chuck Schumer's nonironic "he was associating with persons of Russian descent" comment. The year was 2015.
Generally I considered myself a pro guns dem but Dems foreign policy was beginning to seriously alienate me. Libya played a big red pilling role as well. And Hilary being the star of the 2016 presidential election reality show didn't help.

Wtf. One of those dudes got a full ride to law school courtesy of bill gates.
“Theo Shaw was able to attend classes at another high school and have his credits transferred to Jena. He received a Jena High School diploma although he took part in the graduation ceremony at the other school.[103] On June 3, 2018, he graduated from the University of Washington's School of Law, having received a full scholarship as a Gates Public Service Law Scholar.[112][113]”

I was a pretty staunch Democrat in college (this is way before any of the party's CRT/race/gender obsession stuff) but my allegiance waned gradually since then. I hate all the shitlib stuff. I clung to the party solely because I believe in workers' rights, unions, and the perniciousness of big companies.
Over time, I realized I began to detest more and more of the new Democratic platform. The only thing that really kept me from voting Republican is the anti-intellectual, redneck coddling stuff. Democrats had lost their minds but Republicans seemed just seemed too yokel.
But then Blues Clues released its Pride Parade episode and I finally realized how far the shitlib cancer had spread. How hell bent in corrupting children they were. How they could burrow deep into a beloved and benign children's show and hollow it out for their own depraved agenda.
And from now on, I'll vote Republican simply as the lesser of two evils and as a protest to this madness.
So I guess Blues Clues was the final straw.

i was raised as an anti-statist more than anything. republicans were always the lesser of two evils. abortion and guns was enough for me to label one side as evil separate from the other.
as a young person, Waco was 100% the turning point when i agreed the state was evil.

It was gradually over a period of years.
Reading Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire and seeing so many parallels with our modern society really did that - which was freshman year of college.
In time, as I learned more of religion and philosophy and encountered (((them))) I realized that there were just too many things that didn't add up in mainstream media or that the apparatus of "media" was itself almost totally divorced from knowledge.
I also went to a very shitlib elite high school where they "soft-deployed" woke and hyper PC shit a decade early and despite growing up in a wildly diverse place kept getting it drummed into my head that diversity was just your skin color. The teachers were like prison guards sometimes - I hated them. I also saw incredibly incompetent people be hired as staff and wildly incompetent minority students constantly achieve high grades and go to elite colleges/universities. Seeing the disconnect between academic achievement and actual results, even at such an early age, helped me understand the corruption that was taking place in society.
I was one of the earliest on the board who embraced Trump - but seeing the violent reaction of the Deep State apparatus when he came was what galvanized my hatred against libs - it was unbelievable to see Democrats shapeshift in real time from the "working man's party" to a corporatist authoritarian regime and have their supporters act like nothing happened.
