The first time you can get a 72 hour policy or whatever but if you'll be doing this a fair amount it's like $500 for a year if you can represent you'll be in Baja California and won't be there for more than six cumulative months out of the year. Also if you get the SENTRI add on to GLOBAL ENTRY the border is just like a 15 minute stop sign on the way back (and it's barely a stop sign no matter what on the way in-- it's not as if you'd be smuggling anything INTO Mexico). If you have a reservation at hotel cacadas they will valet your car for free. Just use your GPS to drive there. Rules of the road are basically the same in Mexico and the drivers are actually better than in many parts of America. You'll be fine. You can fly to TJ too but I have never messed with this.
