There was a hilarious article a few years back by a fourth grade teacher who had a student in her class that believed this and she went on a rant about how his Trumpmo parents are evil and how she was unable to reach this poor student. In the course of her rant it became abundantly clear that she was totally incapable of demonstrating that the earth was round. Her arguments were "oh, super important well-credentialed people are TELLING you this so you should TRUST THE SCIENCE." That was it. No "we've sent craft into space and have photos of the earth", no "you can see the curvature from mountains" or anything like that. It is basically religion for her. And we trust her to teach kids.
