Agassi has some points in his favor, such as RG success and the fact that his record was held back by Sampras (lost 4 Major finals and 2 YE #1s to a player more accomplished than Connors).
On the other hand, Connors has a lot more weeks at No. 1, a LOT more titles, and given the times he only played the AO twice and he didn't play RG during any of the 5 years he finished #1. The latter point really gives more weight to Connors' 8 Major haul. Also, the fact that 50% of Agassi's Majors were Australian Opens is a bit of a negative. |

And let’s not forget he made three consecutive finals when the US Open was played on clay, winning one by beating Borg in the final who was pretty decent on clay. |

That plus he doesn’t really have a distinguishing signature achievement like Laver’s grand slam, Agassi’ career golden slam, Pete’s 7 Wimbledons, etc. he had the weeks at number 1 but a number of guys have passed that.
I actually think his 109 total titles is a pretty awesome stat and maybe unbreakable, but modern tennis is too fixated on majors and so that achievement gets lost.
Connors is also a notorious douchebag, which doesn’t help. |

That said, I'd tweak it slightly by putting Djokovic over Nadal and Connors over Lendl. If Connors didn't have the dispute over him playing World Team Tennis, which he was 100% right about, he probably would have won 3 more Grand Slams and probably have finished 5th all time over Laver. But, it is what it is. So, I'd have him 7, but having him at 8 is certainly arguable. |
