Texas was Spanish then Mexican after MXN independence. Most of the Spanish part was concentrated in the Far Eastern part of state near Louisiana. That is why Nacogdoches is the oldest town and San Augustine is the 2nd oldest. Camino Real "Highway 21" from East TX to San Marcos is one of the oldest roads.

The Spanish didn't do too much over there, yeah Cabaza de Vaca or whatever explored and walked through in the 1500's but didn't do much settling, and by the 1800's East TX was kind of a no man's land between Spain/France/USA. West TX and all that was desert and basically who would want to settle there, you just had Apache/Commanche.

By MXN independence, they technically had Texas as part of the country, but it was very sparse and unsettled and uninhabitable because of Indians. You had a few Mexicans that had settled around South Texas. They invited Cumskins to settle and try to keep the Indians down, but because there were really not many Mexicans in Texas, the Cumskins soon outnumbered them and said we would really rather just run shit ourselves so fuck you. Yeah there were a few Mexicans who had settled in Texas, and some of them got down on the side of the Cumskins around the Texas Revolution.

There were only about 4000 of the true Tejanos living in Texas at that time, and them and their descendants are the only people that are Tejanos for real. Probably high 90's percent of Mexicans in Texas are not fucking Tejanos and the fact that Cumskins let them get away with calling themselves is more proof at how weak and pussy Cumskins have got. By 1910-1920, there were less than 10% of Texas population Mexican decent. The Rio Grande Valley, Laredo, Eagle Pass, etc. were all white and settled and built up by Cumskins. 98% of the Mexicans in Texas are foreigners whether they came here legally or when no one gave a fuck or are illegals.

I would venture more than 50% of Mexicans in Texas today don't have a parent or grandparent that was born and died in Texas.
