Author: hot house-broken station
In its original surrealistic context this line conjures the image of a boulder-sized cornflake that the caterpillar from Alice might be perched atop.
But I like to imagine an ordinary corn flake on a chair, perhaps in a hotel’s continental breakfast dining room, that a man sits on and the broken specks stick to his pants.
The incongruity between the author’s intended imagery and my own banal interpretation amuses me. It highlights the playful creativity, the nested interplay of expectation and percept, in imagination. Humor lies in the unexpected.
